Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey: Two lines shift for Seawolves series

Todd D. Milewski  —

The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team will keep its top two lines the same as last weekend when it opens a WCHA series against Alaska Anchorage on Friday at the Kohl Center.

But the other two forward lines will have a new look, without a change in personnel expected. Derek Stepan will center Jordy Murray and Michael Davies, and Aaron Bendickson will center Andy Bohmbach and Podge Turnbull.

The top line stays with Blake Geoffrion centering Patrick Johnson and Tom Gorowsky. The second line is again Matt Thurber centering John Mitchell and Ben Grotting.

Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who was injured in both games last weekend, will be in the lineup Friday, coach Mike Eaves said.

Meanwhile, Cody Goloubef, McDonagh's defensive partner, won Thursday's weekly shootout, beating Jordy Murray in the fifth round. Here's the list of winners this season:

Oct. 9: Brendan Smith (DNP at Boston College, 0-0-0 at New Hampshire)
Oct. 16: Jordy Murray (1-1-2 in two games at Denver)
Oct. 30: Michael Davies (0-1-1 in two games at North Dakota)
Nov. 6: Blake Geoffrion (2-2-4 in two games vs. Michigan Tech)
Nov. 13: Tom Gorowsky (1-2-3 in two games at Minnesota-Duluth)
Nov. 20: Brendan Smith (1-0-1 in two games at St. Cloud State)
Nov. 27: Sean Dolan (DNP vs. Michigan State, Michigan)
Dec. 4: Cody Goloubef
