Driver dies in crash on I-94 near Johnson Creek; westbound lanes closed

The State Patrol has closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 between Highway 67 and Highway 26 near Johnson Creek in Jefferson County following a fatal crash.

According to the State Patrol, the driver of a semi truck died after he crashed into the Switzke Road bridge overpass just before 2:45 p.m. today. The driver has not been identified pending notification of family.

The crash caused structural damage to the Switzke Road bridge, which is closed indefinitely.

The interstate is expected to reopen by 10 p.m.
Motorists are being advised to use an alternate route: Exit 282, Highway 67, in Waukesha County to Highway 18 west to Highway 26 north to I-94 west.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
